TONI PRECKWINKLE WINS KEY ENDORSEMENTS

Cook County Board President candidate continues to garner support from progressives

This weekend, Toni Preckwinkle picked up several key endorsements in her race for Cook County Board President. On Sunday, the Democratic Party of Evanston voted with a resounding 80% to endorse Preckwinkle for Cook County Board President. On Saturday, Preckwinkle received the overwhelming support of both the Northfield Democratic Organization and the 49th Ward Democrats

These endorsements join a growing number of progressive organizations and individuals who have recently thrown their support behind Preckwinkle.

Planned Parenthood Illinois chose, for the first time in its history, to publicly endorse in the Cook County Board President race. Acknowledging the critical role the County plays in health care, the organization cited Preckwinkle's unwavering commitment to women's health issues.  "As alderman on the Chicago City Council, Preckwinkle consistently received the political support of Planned Parenthood." They also applauded her "outspoken support of the recently passed Bubble Zone Ordinance."

Preckwinkle also recently gained the endorsements of the New Trier Democratic Organization and Citizen Action/Illinois.

The New Trier Democratic Organization voted with an overwhelming 84% to support Preckwinkle for Cook County Board President, the highest vote percentage awarded to any NTDO endorsed candidate.

These endorsements come alongside several new endorsements from elected officials. Alderman Helen Shiller (46th),  Committeeman David Fagus (49th), Committeeman Kathleen Sances (Wheeling Township) and Commissioner of the Board of  Review Larry Rogers Jr. recently pledged their support to Preckwinkle.

"I'm an independent, progressive, pro-choice candidate and I am the only candidate in this race who can say all those things. I am honored and encouraged by the recent endorsements of such distinguished progressive organizations and individuals. It's less than two months until the primary and we've been continually building momentum. We are building a broad coalition united by our determination to reinstate accountability, integrity and vision into Cook County government - to shape a better, safer, more productive future for our County," said Preckwinkle.
