Here are some morning odds and ends in the Cook County Board president's race:

Toni Preckwinkle is building some momentum. After securing the endorsements of both the Sun-Times and the Tribune this week, the Austin Weekly News posted a short endorsement of its own last night. "Ald. Toni Preckwinkle is smart, progressive, independent, and cool in that sort of Obama like way they must be bottling down in Hyde Park," the community paper writes. "She understands, in her understated way, that this government must be taken apart and put back together on an entirely new model."

Preckwinkle unveiled her first television ad today, as well, in which she explains why she is "running to replace Todd Stroger." Watch it below:

Will the campaign have enough cash to overcome lower name recognition than some of her competitors? At a fundraiser on Monday night, Preckwinkle brought in an estimated $100,000.  That comes on top of some good numbers recorded in recent A-1 reports. TheChicago Current has more:

Preckwinkle has disclosed $55,500 of donations listed in the A-1 reports, which are required to be filed for donations of $500 or more 32 days prior to an election. Metropolitan Water Reclamation District President Terrence O’Brien has brought in $45,500, while Clerk of Court Dorothy Brown has raised $16,500.

No records of A-1 reports, which must be submitted within two business days of the contribution, appear to exist for County Board President Todd Stroger's campaign.

Finally, the South Side alderman was interviewed on WLS' Don Wade and Roma this morning. She talked about her platform, the possibility of a Daley endorsement, and the racist literature circulating throughout the county. Give it a listen.
